Mindfulness Meditation & 3Hr Hike
Sunday April 09, 2017 - Parkland Walk & Hampstead Heath
A day of mindfulness meditation and great hiking around North London's lesser known trails. We’ll start the day in the splendid serenity of the Gillespie local nature reserve, a little known green escape located just a few minutes’ walk from Finsbury Park Station. From here we follow a disused rail track up to Highbury Woods an onto Hampstead Heath.
After a formal group meditation at the Ecology Centre and a bite to eat, we’ll head north on our hike - through the reserve and onto Finsbury Park, continuing along Parkland Nature Walk, the disused rail track that once connected Finsbury Park and Muswell Hill. Closed since 1954, we follow the tracks through leafy, abandoned stations to Highgate where we join the Capital Ring Walk (CRW), part of the 78mile loop that circumnavigates the capital.
The CRW eventually drops us at Hampstead Heath, one of London’s largest and most scenic green spaces and wildlife habitats. We hike through the Heath past Kenwood house and the various public baths before concluding the day at Hampstead Tube Station.
